FAQ

What is T.Y.A.?
The T.Y.A. began in 1992 and is an audition only middle and high school acting troupe which performs a full length musical and teaches other elementary and middle school Drama Learning Center students. Members will be student counselors for elementary and middle school classes at Drama Learning Center.

Who can audition to be a T.Y.A. member?
Anyone who is is the 7th to 12th grades and has experience in musical theater.

How is T.Y.A. different from a regular DLC middle-school program?
There is a greater time commitment for a T.Y.A. actor and class. Students will learn the importance of character development, scene study, specific aspects of stage craft and lighting, organize and be a part of the stage crew, and learn choreography in Mucial Theater.  Students are expected to memorize all of thier lines before coming to a rehearsal.

When will T.Y.A. rehearse?
T.Y.A rehearsals are on Saturday mornings from 10:00 - 1:00 during the months from August to November.

What musicals will T.Y.A. perform and when?
T.Y.A. will perform the full production of "Beauty And The Beast" in the Fall of 2003 as well as "Cats" in the Winter of 2004 and "Godspell" in the Spring of 2004.  Performances for "Beauty And The Beast" are scheduled for November 22 and 23 as well as December 5 and 6, 2003.

Who are the T.Y.A. directors?
The directors are Shari Grue and Debbie Leonard. The musical director is Ed Myers.

What is the cost to be a T.Y.A. member?
If accepted into the program, based upon auditions, the cost is $300.00.
